A crucial film in Joris Ivens personal life. Appointed by the Dutch government to an official position in Jacarta, Ivens becomes “persona non grata” in his own country. He preferred to film the boycott of the Sidney sailors to serve the ships sent to repress Indonesia, that declared independency from The Netherlands after World War II.
