Ogawa’s fim is one of the two masterpieces directed by his collective of filmmakers and filmed in the rural area of Yamagata in Japan. It’s a touching and very particular foray into the conditions of rice production (and its transformation during the ages) and into the stories and lifes of the few inhabitants of the small village of Furuayashiki.
