Lana Gogoberidze
1978 • Georgia (USSR) • 95’

Sofiko is a dedicated journalist, confident of the importance of her profession. She realises her husband and her family do not value or understand her career. It is time to look for answers for herself. At the time, other Soviet female film-makers (Larisa Shepitko, Nana Mchedlidze) were reflecting upon womanhood, but Gogoberidze uses a perception of equality that is suddenly shattered as a starting point with a character that is ideally seeking the truth.
