While discovering the existence of Balai Libéré, a self-managed cleaning company in the 1970s, today’s cleaners on the same Belgian University campus are questioning their working conditions and the feasibility of self-management today. Labour relations translate into emotional relations, united by a timeline that raises topical issues. The university is a ghost space when unoccupied and an occupational one when inhabited. In the transition between cleaning and dignity, one discusses the freedom of the cleaners who fairly stand up for their rights.
