Originally created as didactic and propagandist tools in communist Poland, the footage is repurposed as a locus of auto-fictional memories. The classic Slavic witch figure, Baba Jaga, is reimagined as a “prehistoric goddess from the times of the matriarchy”. This transformation incites layered reflections on kinship and identity, as the child navigates binary gender roles.</p>

For <em>baloeiros</em> in Rio and São Paulo, hot air balloon construction, flying and chasing is a competitive art form, and central to their sense of community and cultural heritage since colonial times. Now, authorities have made their art illegal. Dargis embarks on a wild ride to witness the extreme obsession and sacrifice required to build these spectacular balloons that reach over 70 meters high and that require over 100 people to launch into the sky.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Russia’s invasion of Ukraine finds Alina in Irpien, near Kiev. She is alone, with her leg in a cast. She manages to escape with her cat from a bombed and cut off city in one of the last evacuation groups. She reaches a cottage in a nearby village where her parents are. For the first weeks they try to live normally, and Alina records current events with her camera. However, the front is getting closer and closer, and they have to make a decision—to stay or to run away? When the neighbours leave their homes, Alina and her parents pack under the cover of the night. At the very last minute, the father decides to stay.</p>
