Cristina

Based on the super 8mm films by Cristina’s father and her diaries, the film confronts the lightness and joy of familiar celebrations with the weight and sadness that the same child expresses in private, and secretly, to her diary. The chronological lag between the two records—the images from the first years of life and the writings related to a late childhood—reinforces Cristina’s feeling of helplessness, exposed to a hostile home environment. This work aims to give a voice to this child and validate her feelings and thoughts, acknowledging, at last, her reality.
