Arché announces this year’s selected projects!

Arché, Apordoc’s project development lab will take place between October 12th and 20th, partially during Nebulae, the industry programme of Doclisboa International Film Festival.

This year, 122 projects from 19 Ibero-american countries and Italy have applied and 12 were selected, all in different stages of production, from 10 countries.

The selected directors will present their projects during a pitching session on October 13nd and will participant in a round of one-to-one meetings with international film professionals to foster new business opportunities.

From the 17th to the 20th, participants will be attending project development workshops with tutors Sergio Oksman (director and professor, Brazil/Spain), Tiago Hespanha (director and producer, Portugal) and Virginia Garcia del Pino (director and editor, Spain).

RAW – Residencies Arché→Work is also back to its onsite format, with artistic residencies and a training programme in which 3 of the selected projects and 3 research projects will be participating.

RAW – Residencies Arché→Work, the training programme and artistic residencies co-organized with Márgenes Film Festival (Madrid, Spain) is also back, from October 12th to November 27th.

Three film projects and three research projects were selected, from 5 Iberoamerican countries.

Throughout seven weeks, the participants will be individually tutored by Teresa Castro (professor e researcher, Portugal) and Chema Gonzalez (curator and researcher, Spain), in the case of the Research strand and by Beli Martinez (producer, Spain), Gustavo Fontán (director, Argentina) and Paula Gaitán (director and visual artist, Colombia/Brazil).

The six participants will attend and artistic residency between October 21st and November 10th in Largo Residências and Hangar – Centro de Investigação Artística in Lisbon. Between November 11th and 19th the participants will attend the 60th FICX – Gijón International Film Festival before heading to the last part of the programme in Márgenes Film Festival.

To foster the projects’ development and finalization, Arché will award several prizes: the RTP Award for the Best Project in Editing or First Cut Stage (15.000,00€ for the acquisition of the television rights in Portugal and PALOP), the School of Arts, Universidade Católica Portuguesa Jury Special Award for the Best Project in Development and Writing Stage (2.000,00€) and Selina Award for the Best Project in Development and Writing Stage.

The awards will be delivered during Doclisboa’s Closing ceremony on October 15th in Culturgest.

The Arché jury is composed by Hajnal Molnár-Szakács (Film Fund Director at the Sundance Institute, USA), Pedro Filipe Marques (director and editor, Portugal) and Sarita Matijević Žilnik (producer at Playground Produkcija, Serbia).
