Experimental Archaeology of Brazilian Inventive Cinema: Secret Poetics in the Archives of Andrea Tonacci, Júlio Bressane and Jorge Bodanzky
Three recent projects aim to open the archives of three great Brazilian inventive filmmakers: Tonacci, Bressane, and Bodanzky. We will examine the contact these filmmakers had with experimental cinema throughout their careers.

Queer and Disobedient Archives: Sexual Dissidences in Latin American Aesthetic Languages
This project will produce a series of critical essays and performative readings focusing on the traces left by queer individuals and communities within and beyond the cinematic sphere in Latin American aesthetic languages.

What Resists, What Remains: Shamanic Cinema and Event in Contemporary Latin American Non-Fiction Cinema
The aim is to explore the events that have led to the creation of a body of contemporary Latin American ‘shamanic’ films, and to consider whether they offer a different way of thinking about cinema, based not on what they ‘show’, but on what they ‘open’.

Pablo Marín

Pablo Marín is a writer, professor and filmmaker. As an independent researcher and curator, he has presented programmes on Argentinean cinema in North America and Europe, and currently he curates the series Confesionario at Cineteca Madrid. He has translated books by Jonas Mekas, Stan Brakhage and John Waters, among others, and his volume on Argentine experimental cinema “Una luz revelada. El cine experimental argentino” was published in 2022.
