Doclisboa, the Reina Sofía Museum and FIDMarseille present the winning projects of the Joaquim Jordà artistic residencies, dedicated to filmmakers and artists working with essay films, experimental cinema and non-fiction. The initiative supports the creation and production of new projects, and promotes international collaborative networks. It also pays tribute to Joaquim Jordà (1935-2006), an innovating non-fiction filmmaker.

From Dawn to Dusk
In 1904, a man travels through the provinces of Argentina with a mission: to observe the situation of the working classes and prepare a report for the government. His name is Juan Bialet Massé, and at his side is Rosich, a young photographer tasked with documenting the journey.

Tonada
In 1957, a guerrilla singer was killed by police in Bogotá. In 2019, students and leaders met the same fate. Tonada conjures these events and confronts betrayal’s traumas through a cinematic composition meant to be sung. What does it sing?
