The .doc program returns to cinemas in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra

The .doc program, an initiative by Doclisboa that brings films from the previous edition of the festival to commercial cinemas, returns this September with two titles: ‘O dia que te conheci’, by André Novais Oliveira, a witty and transgressive chronicle of a Brazil rarely portrayed; and ‘Henry Fonda for President’, by Alexander Horwath, a foreign and fascinating look at the life, work, and country of one of Hollywood’s greatest actors. Both films will be shown in Lisbon at Cinema Ideal; in Porto at Cinema Passos Manuel; and in Coimbra at Casa do Cinema.

In Lisbon, the .doc sessions begin on September 11 with ‘Henry Fonda for President’ and run throughout the week. On Thursday (11), Saturday (13), Monday (15), and Wednesday (17), always at 8:45 p.m. On the other days — Friday (12), Sunday (14), and Tuesday (16), at 8:00 p.m.— it will be ‘O dia que te conheci’.

In Porto, two single screenings are scheduled: September 12 with ‘Henry Fonda for President’ at 9:30 p.m., and September 13 with ‘O dia que te conheci’ at 9:30 p.m. Porto will also host a screening on September 25 at 9:30 p.m. of ‘Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea’, by Beatrice Minger and Christoph Schaub, which premiered in 2024 at Porto/Post/Doc.

Finally, in Coimbra, ‘O dia que te conheci’ will screen at 6:15 p.m. on September 8, and ‘Henry Fonda for President’ at 6:15 p.m. on September 15.

This partnership with Cinema Ideal in Lisbon, Porto/Post/Doc and Cinema Passos Manuel in Porto, and Casa do Cinema in Coimbra aims to support the commercial release of films programmed at Doclisboa and foster their encounter with audiences across different regions of the country.

The 23rd edition of Doclisboa takes place from October 16 to 26 at Culturgest, Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Cinema Ideal, Casa do Comum, and Teatro A Barraca. The full program will be revealed in September.
