Lovano Supreme

In the spring of 2017, Franco Maresco invited the great saxophonist Joe Lovano to play in Palermo for the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane’s death. A few weeks later, they met in Bronxville, New York, and spent a long afternoon reminiscing about jazz and Joe’s Sicilian origins. Six years and a devastating pandemic go by, and the result is Lovano Supreme, a film that attempts to bring together the revolutionary music of John Coltrane, and the migration of Sicilians to America in the early 20th century.
