The protagonist’s mother joins a religious group after her husband’s suicide and makes a large donation. He believes that this group has ruined his life and family, so he creates a gun and carries out an assassination of Shinzo Abe, who has close ties to this church. Made as an immediate response to the killing of a former Prime Minister and as a political gesture, this film proves again Masao Adachi (an ex-member of the Japanese Red Army and the originator of ‘landscape theory’) to be among the most subversive directors of contemporary cinema. A bitter reflection on violence, revolution and terrorism.
