The Wave

Redes

Emilio Gómez Muriel, Fred Zinnemann

Conceived as a documentary, this work of fiction features local fishermen on the Mexican gulf acting out the drama of their labour’s exploitation. Inspired by Soviet cinema, prefiguring neorealism, the film was an inspiration to filmmakers on the US Left.
