In 2023, the Green Years competition will present 19 premieres from 15 different countries. Once again, this section will focus on screening and discussing films created by young contemporary directors, but that’s not all. In collaboration with the University of the Arts Helsinki, we’ll present works produced in the scope of the Time and Space Arts programme over the last 40 years.

The Green Years section joins the University of the Arts Helsinki to present a focus on the work of its students. The Academy has roots extending to 1848, and it has educated many of the most recognised Finnish artists. We shall screen films made in the scope of the Time and Space Arts programme, which seeks to foster an independent artistic practice, encouraging an attentive and welcoming look, and promoting critical thinking.
