abcDoc, Doclisboa’s education project, has established itself as essential in training audiences that are aware, critical and attentive to the world. Through documentary cinema, it combines pedagogy, art and citizenship, providing experiences that broaden our view of reality and encourage critical thinking.
Believing in cinema as a form of intervention, abcDoc puts forward documentary as a tool for questioning and discovery, a way of understanding the past, reflecting the present and imagining the future.
The Doc Escolas sessions, always accompanied by participatory debates, where students, teachers, filmmakers and guests discuss the films, are fundamental moments for consolidating cinema as a space for learning, reflection and sharing. Students delve deeper into the themes addressed in the films, ask questions, share ideas and relate the content to their own experiences.
At the same time, the Docs 4 Kids workshops promote a connection between cinema and the school curriculum in a creative, critical and sensitive way. Together, these activities stimulate independent thinking and active involvement among students.
In a world where images influence communication and the understanding of reality, education in film literacy is essential.
