In conversation with: Ava Rocha

With a filmography spanning more than four decades, Paula Gaitán has built one of the most distinctive bodies of work in Latin American cinema, marked by formal experimentation and a deeply sensorial approach to image and sound.

Ava Rocha, multidisciplinary artist, daughter of Paula Gaitán and a close collaborator on her work, will share her own artistic journey while reflecting on the creative processes that shape her mother’s cinema, exploring sound as a structuring element of cinematic language and the dialogue between their creative practices.

Ava Rocha is also the editor of Elza Soares, The Woman at the End of the World, while Paula Gaitán presents her latest film, About Space and Depth, in this year’s edition of Doclisboa.

With support from NOVA FCSH – UNL.

The session will be held in Portuguese, with no translation. Free admittance.
