For a decade, Steve Boyes has been searching for a mysterious, elusive herd of ghost elephants in the wooded, virtually uninhabited highlands of Angola, an area as large as England. He sets out accompanied by master trackers from Namibia, the best in the world, but there is an underlying question: would it not be better to keep these gigantic elephants rather as a dream, as ghosts, as the white whale, rather than find them in reality? “Like many of my films, this is an exploration of dreams, of imagination, weighed against reality. It felt like the hunt for Moby Dick, the white whale” (Werner Herzog).
