Last Movies allows us to see what those who no longer see last saw. British artist, curator and filmmaker Stanley Schtinter proposes an alternative account of cinema’s first century through the films watched by a constellation of notable figures shortly before (or at the time of) their deaths, including Franz Kafka, John F. Kennedy, Bette Davis, Kurt Cobain and the Heaven’s Gate religious cult. Narrated by Jeremy Irons, Last Movies is incisive, playful and consistently unpredictable. It continues an art project that also includes a book of the same name and a series of screenings.
