In the village of Natzwiller, in Alsace, a handful of residents lived in peace until the Nazis came and built a concentration camp in an area known as Le Struthof. Every house has a story to tell. This film traces a topography of the place and a cartography of memories, through the eyes of the last remaining inhabitants who witnessed the chaos. “I didn’t want to make a historical film, but rather to try to embody history, to bring it to us through the prism of the memories—inevitably subjective—of those who lived it. There was great urgency in recording them” (Marie Dumora).
