Doclisboa is coming… and so are the warm-up parties!

As always, and in order to prepare you for 11 days of cinema, talks and special guests, here is the schedule for the weeks leading up to the festival, with our warm-up events at MUSA da Bica, Bar A Barraca and B.O.T.A.

4 OCT // 6PM-11PM // MUSA DA BICA

HEART BEAT PARTY

In collaboration with MUSA, we will have a set by DJ Cansada (@inesvaladaslopes), who will be taking care of our supreme good vibes with synthpop, disco, zouk and broken beats.

10 OCT // 9.30pm-2am // BAR A BARRACA

10pm-11pm
Se um poema ganhasse as eleições intercalares* (If a poem won the midterm elections)
Film concert with José Anjos and Inóspita, at Bar A Barraca

Challenged by Doclisboa, José Anjos and Inóspita present a film concert based on three distinct but interconnected visual universes: from the (redoubled) amazement of the Lumière brothers and their operators at everyday life, to the portrait of an imagined Portugal so ancient (but not forgotten?), which still seems to suffer from growing pains that refuse to ease, passing through the visionary and poignant humanity of early black American cinema. These universes are sometimes joined by poetry as narrator and also as a candidate for the radical beauty of humanity. Two guitars, two voices and various themes composed and arranged over retrospective images. And some expired campaign proposals. Because when we look to the past, it is the future that we conquer.

*Title based on a verse by José Carlos Barros

11pm-2am
SET DJ SARDINE

To keep the party going, we will have DJ Sardine’s progressive shuffle, who, despite not identifying himself as a DJ, will certainly get our bodies moving… Until A Barraca shakes.

13 OCT // 10PM-11.30PM // B.O.T.A.
Poetry at Bota

Poetry at Bota is a space for those who want to read and listen to poems, with no theme or script. Every Monday, José Anjos will be here to welcome you with various authors, both Portuguese and foreign, some of whom are undoubtedly extraterrestrial.

Add these events to your diary and try to bring the whole world with you, because in October, there’s room for everyone in Lisbon.
