Ruy Guerra was born in Mozambique, studied in France, and in 1958 moved to Brazil, where he still lives. Director, poet and scriptwriter, he is one of the major names of Cinema Novo, having directed films such as Os Cafajestes and Os Fuzis. As of 1975, after Mozambique’s liberation, he helps to build a national filmmaking. Passionate about life and cinema, he weaved a wide web of collaborations and affections, with people like Werner Herzog, Chico Buarque and Gabriel García Márquez.
