Joaquim Jordà Residencies

GENERAL INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS

This program is for international mid-career artists and filmmakers.

Eligibility requirements
– There is no age limit to be considered.
– Applicants should have produced a minimum of two feature or middle length non-fiction films or a minimum of four films of any length, with distribution in festivals and/or museums and international art centers.
– Applicants must be available to physically reside in Madrid for between three months (minimum) and 10 months (maximum). Travel to Madrid and living expenses in Madrid are to be paid out of the grant itself.
– Applicants must be available to travel to Marseille in July and to Lisbon in October. The convening institutions in these cities will pay for travel (from within Europe or similar price range) and living expenses during the grantees’s stay.

Application process
All application materials should be sent in a single email. This mail should be sent to jorda_grants@fidmarseille.org directly by the applicant, with the subject “Residencia Joaquim Jordà 2022-2023”:
– Valid passport or ID card.
– Bank account information, with a certificate verifying that the indicated bank account belongs to the applicant.
– Most recent tax declaration from the applicant’s country of residence. If this documentation is provided, the grant money will be paid in full, without any deduction for taxes. If this documentation is not provided, the percentage dictated by international agreements will be deduced from the grant. Applicants may block or delete fiscal information they consider private.
– A professional resumé of a maximum of 1500 words, organized in sections including “Education and background”, “Screenings and Exhibits” (in the last five years, listed by date and venue) and “Other Activities” (including workshops, teaching and similar activities)
– A PDF document of a maximum of 5000 words, describing the film project to be undertaken during the residency. This document may include images, links to videos or any other multimedia elements. It may not exceed 10 pages.
– Links to a maximum of three audiovisual works made in the last three years. These may be feature length or shorts, with synopsis, credits, and a description of where each of these pieces has been shown (maximum 1500 words) in a PDF file.
– The languages of the application are French, Portuguese, English and Spanish. Any of these languages is accepted.

Dates and Deadlines for the First Edition
– The call will be announced internationally on 12 October at Doclisboa.
– Applications will be accepted between 12 October and 12 November; all
documentation should be sent to jorda_grants@fidmarseille.org, as indicated above.
– Candidates will have a period of 5 days to correct mistakes or submit
additional documentation.
– The decision will be made by a jury comprised of members of Doclisboa,
FIDMarseille and Museo Reina Sofía and an independent expert and will be published in the websites and social networks of these three institutions on Wednesday 30 November. It will also be announced in international publications in the field of contemporary independent film.
– The grant money will be transferred to the grantee in a single payment during the month of December, in the same year the call was published.

Outcomes
– At the closure of the grant period, the grantees must present a final dossier including the evolution and planning of the film, of a maximum of 5000 words or 20 pages.
– The filmmakers and artists who receive the Joaquim Jordà Residency Grant commit to show the final results of their work in Museo Reina Sofía, Doclisboa or FIDMarseille without the payment of any additional screening fees.
– A final version of the film will be sent to Museo Reina Sofía, which could show the film within the museum’s programs and to conserve it as part of a historical archive of work produced through the Joaquim Jordà residency program.
