Round table: About the film exergue – on documenta 14, by Dimitris Athiridis

A discussion around Dimitris Athiridis’ 14 hour cinematic opus exergue – on documenta 14 (2024), with the film’s director and Adam Szymczyk (artistic director of documenta 14) and Justin Jaeckle (associate programmer, Doclisboa), chaired by curator and researcher Luísa Santos. A critical reflection on the place, politics and entanglement of art and its institutions in and with an inexorably shifting world, as mirrored in the lens and construction of Athiridis’ extraordinarily intimate observation of the controversial and dramatic course of documenta 14’s radical curatorial proposal.

In partnership with Maumaus / Lumiar Cité and CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian.

The session will be held in English, with simultaneous Portuguese translation. Free admittance, subject to the capacity of the room.
