46% of the population lacks drinking water, 50,3% of deaths are caused by contagious diseases, and there is one doctor for every 3020 persons. This is the reality of the Otomí people in the Mezquital Valley (Hidalgo). Based on research of sociologist Roger Bartra, Leduc’s essay analyses their economic, social, cultural and political condition. A history of ethnocide is divided into chapters from A to Z, an alphabet of systematic annihilation of the indigenous population. This deeply political film with no voice-narration is rarely screened, but belongs to the highlights of Latin American documentary cinema.
