Lovers’ Wind

Lovers' Wind

Parastoo Anoushahpour, Faraz Anoushahpour, Ryan Ferko

In 1968, the reigning monarch of an increasingly autocratic Iran commissioned French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse to produce a documentary highlighting the country’s rich history and flourishing development. Titled after the gentle northeastern wind, which was also the cause of his untimely death, Le vent des amoureux would be Lamorisse’s final film. The artists re-envision various of its traces to offer a critical meditation on the histories, stories, and fictions that surround it, in a contemporary variation of the original film’s intention to document the Iranian condition.
