TWST – Things We Said Today

TWST takes as its starting point the Beatles’ arrival in New York for their August 1965 concert at Shea Stadium, and as its title a Beatles song that already anticipates a time when the present will have become a haunting past. But the frame of reference steadily broadens, juxtaposing adjacent realities of 1965 through a cast of thousands—each face and place given equal weight. Incorporeal presences circulate within these domains of gritty photographic textures, a vanished youth still inhabiting their locations. A journey to the hidden core of that world both gone and palpably present.
