A musical vinyl titled Rhymes and Songs for OPEC was recorded in 1980 by the Concert Choir of the Central University of Venezuela for the 20th anniversary of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Interweaving forgotten songs and shadow archives, it tells a different story of oil, not as a commodity, but rather as a political leverage used for the liberation of Palestine and building Pan-Arab solidarity. This is the final episode of a trilogy on the relationship between the political economy of images, archival technologies, and the visual cultures of resource extraction in West Asia.
