Maria Velho da Costa and Armando Silva Carvalho proofread a book they co-authored, entitled O Livro do Meio. Over the course of four days, they allow themselves to be filmed, trusting the director thanks to their friendship with her, whilst the writers Luísa Costa Gomes and Fernando Cabral Martins appear as actors-readers who help to bring the text to life, highlighting the brilliance of their writing.
