They’re Here follows anonymous Minneapolis residents as they evade and resist the paramilitary occupation of their city. Told in the tradition of dystopian cinema, it is set in a winter landscape where masked agents abduct children. The assassination of the young Mapuche Rafael Nahuel in Argentine Patagonia is the starting point of Forest Up in the Mountain. Drawing on court records, official documents and forensic archives, the film presents the forest as both witness and space of resistance, where traces of violence against Indigenous people speak beyond the courtroom and unsettle official narratives.
