Nebulae 2026 Announces Jury and Awards
Nebulae, Doclisboa’s industry platform, brings together a jury of three film professionals with diverse backgrounds in programming, filmmaking and production: Tyler Wilson, John Torres and Leonor Noivo.
Tyler Wilson, Senior Programmer at Film at Lincoln Center in New York, serves on the selection committees for New Directors/New Films and the Currents section of the New York Film Festival. He has also contributed to the organisation of repertory programmes and retrospectives dedicated to filmmakers such as Jane Campion, Jacques Tourneur, Agnès Varda, Wong Kar Wai, Kinuyo Tanaka, Dario Argento, Tod Browning and Edward Yang, among others.
John Torres, a Filipino filmmaker, musician and writer, has directed a dozen short films and six feature films. His work frequently draws on found documentary footage, which he transforms and reinterprets through themes of love, family relationships and memory, weaving together contemporary events, rumours, myths and folklore.
Leonor Noivo, a Portuguese filmmaker and producer, grew up in Macau and studied Photography and Film at ESTC in Lisbon, as well as attending Ateliers Varan. She is a co-founder of Terratreme Films, where she develops her own projects and collaborates with other filmmakers throughout the various stages of the creative process.
The jury will present the Nebulae Awards, which this year offer support for production, editing, post-production, development and the circulation of film projects.
The RTP Award for Best Project in the Editing Stage, worth €15,000, includes the acquisition of television broadcasting rights for the winning film in Portugal and the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP), allowing unlimited screenings on RTP and RTP África channels. The award is open to Arché and Guest Country projects.
One of this edition’s new additions is the LABED / Pompeu Fabra Award, which provides a grant to participate in the LABED programme at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The award includes €6,000 and mentorship in editing and audience development, and is open to Arché projects.
The DMix Collective Award, worth €4,000, provides sound post-production or colour grading services for a short or feature film currently in the editing stage.
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa – School of Arts Award, worth €2,000, is intended for projects in development or in the editing stage.
Another new addition is the Agência Freak Distribution Award, which supports the development and implementation of a festival distribution strategy for projects in the editing stage.
The DAFilms Award provides two years of worldwide availability for the selected project on the DAFilms platform, together with distribution, planning, marketing and promotional services, as well as a minimum payment of €400.
The DAE Talent Development Award offers a complimentary one-year membership to the Documentary Association of Europe.
This edition also introduces the ZagrebDoxPro Slow Pitch Award, which grants participation in the ZagrebDoxPro Slow Pitch 2027 project pitching programme in Croatia.
The Nebulae Awards Ceremony will take place on October 21 at Culturgest, during an event exclusively for accredited participants and festival guests.
Through these initiatives, Nebulae continues to strengthen its role as a platform for exchange, project development and circulation, bringing together filmmakers and professionals from across the industry and creating new opportunities for films at every stage of their journey.
