Under the Laval Decree, from the 1930s, film projects were subject to prior censorship. In this context, Paulin Soumanou Vieyra and Mamadou Sarr did not obtain permission to shoot in Africa and, instead, made this short film on the lives of Africans in Paris. The film exposes students’ questions about their identity, their civilization, their culture and their future. The voice over wonders if Africa is only in Africa or also on the banks of the Seine.
