Part two of a trilogy dedicated to the Crusades from the eleventh to the thirteenth century, which were military expeditions meant to retake the ‘Holy Land’ from the muslims. Egyptian artist Wael Shawki draw inspiration from the chronicles of those wars written by the Arabs and assembled by writer Amin Maalouf in his book The Crusades Through Arab Eyes (1983). More than a hundred puppets, clay figurines made by hand in the tradition of Provence Christmas cribs, are the colourful and schematic characters of this splendid horror film.
