Devo

Few groups embraced sci-fi, satire, and surrealism like the Dada-inspired, new wave, art punk band Devo. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Devo were music video pioneers, and satirical absurdists with a strong critique of American society’s regression. Their concept of ‘de-evolution’, shaped by the 1970 Kent State shootings, gained mainstream attention with the hit Whip It. Through archival footage and interviews with Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh and Jerry Casale, Devo revisits the highs, lows, surreal moments, and iconic performances of their 50-year career.
