The United States invaded Panama at the end of 1989. Few months later, on April 5, 1990, soldiers who took part in the invasion murdered a cabaret dancer in a bar. The military operation was called Just Cause. A bitter conclusion of a wordless trilogy juxtaposes popular music and a widespread influence of American pop culture, summarising Leduc’s reflection on anti-imperialist struggle and cultural resistance. “I was interested in the idea of making a kind of musical based on a terrible news, not so much a typical West Side Story love story, but preferably a Latin American musical.” (Paul Leduc)
