Primer Encuentro Continental de la Pluralidad

Paul Leduc

From April 24 to 26, 1992, Mexico City held the Congress of Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. It gathered 51 groups from abroad, while the territory of the host country was represented by 33 groups. Leduc documented the event, highlighting its festive nature by showing the incredible energy of traditional music. This deceptively modest, little known film, brings Leduc back to one of his central themes. The attempt to understand the role of indigenous culture is a key to his entire directorial project. A possibility to capture this almost utopian brief encounter opens the doors for further reflection.
