Chiapas is the southernmost state in Mexico, the home to one of the largest indigenous populations in the country. In 1868 the Tzotzil people rose up to protect their religious beliefs, but the rebellion was suppressed. Exactly 100 years later the film collective Cine 70, co-founded by Leduc, arrives to the region during the Holy Week to document the conditions of the inhabitants and the spiritual activities. Inspired by William R. Holland’s dissertation Highland Maya Folk Medicine: A Study of Culture Change, the film was considered lost and recently found in the archive of Alexis Grivas.
