Many people died in the village of Ziglo, in western Ivory Coast, during the 2011 civil war that pitted indigenous communities against immigrants from Burkina Faso. After waiting too long for justice from the State, Josiane (known as Maman Jo), a local woman who lost several family members, decided to take the village’s destiny into her own hands by creating a space where women from all communities could speak out.
