Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice

William Greaves

Most people know little about Frederick Douglass beyond the fact that he was a major force in the abolition of slavery and an important voice in the struggle for voting rights for both African-Americans and women. Produced by the American National Park Service, this enacted docudrama provides a wealth of information about the life and career of Douglass. Less known is Ida B. Wells, a pioneering investigative journalist and educator who worked in the Deep South, and was one of the founders of the NAACP. Ida B. Wells, also produced for the National Park Service, is narrated by Toni Morrison.
