György Kurtág, one of the most influential contemporary composers and the last great figure of the post-war avant-garde, marks his 100th birthday in 2026. Kurtág Fragments follows his emotional and artistic journey through key places in his life, including Transylvania, Budapest, Vienna, London and Paris, where his magnum opus Fin de partie was staged in 2022. Along the way, the film showcases his work with world-class musicians such as Víkingur Ólafsson, Steven Isserlis and Pierre-Laurent Aimard, capturing the mystical process through which Kurtág transforms emotion into music.
