In Lagunas del Rosario, in the arid lands of Mendoza, Rubén Díaz—artisan, Malvinas War veteran, and healer known as Caballo Loco (Crazy Horse)—each winter solstice summons a secret ceremony exclusively for initiates. During a night-long vigil, pilgrims from distant places gather in search of relief from illness, grief, and pain. Surrounded by bonfires, prayers, and ancestral stories, the community attempts to conjure away the afflictions of a territory ravaged by drought and the vanishing of its waters.
