Two Meters of this Land

Metran men hada-al turab

Ahmad Natche

Two Meters of This Land takes place on a summer evening in Ramallah (West Bank), where a popular music concert is being prepared, and will be broadcast on TV. “That same summer, the Palestinian national poet Mahmoud Darwish died and he was buried on a hilltop in Ramallah, very close to the outdoor theatre where I set my film” (Ahmad Natche). This film was the starting point for Shadowboxing. Its paradox is even more poignant today—it became an enduring concern for the future: How can you talk about a here without a now? The answer, according to Jean-Pierre Rehm, is to talk of yesterday.
