During the 2020 confinement, Lucrecia Martel returns to her hometown in Salta, a conservative region in Argentina. There, she follows Julieta Laso, who like a muse introduces her to a group of women artists who challenge the opinions of others around bonfires. In this film, Martel deepens Julieta’s enticing voice. The ‘I’ of the main character opens itself to the encounter of discordant voices and bodies that the camera never gets tired of following. The result is a tribute to a community that, in spite of temporary, serves as an antidote to the pandemic.
