“There is always this paradoxical contrast between the surface of an image, which appears to be in control, and the process which produces it, which inevitably involves some degree of violence.” This quote by Edward Said opens this film in three steps. 1. A black screen; the voice of a woman recounts a stunt on a film set. 2. The voice continues over a still shot of waves. 3. A young woman hangs from the ceiling during the shooting of a TV episode of The Exorcist. Striking linkage of the three segments, precision of the device, passion for cinema and simultaneous analysis of the conditions of its existence.
